Turn Off the TV
I don’t need talking heads
to tell me it’s raining
I heard thunder’s voice
grow hoarse in bootless warning
I felt spitting drops of madness
splatter my face
I saw all the surprised eyes
without umbrellas
a long time ago

Exactly. I’m always stunned, on the rare occasions when I watch the local news, how much time is spent on the weather. Warn me when tornados or ice storms are coming, but otherwise I’ll figure it out myself.
a gorgeous keeper..
“spitting drops of madness/ splatter my face” jumps out
My favorite:
“I heard thunder’s voice
grow hoarse in bootless warning “
Love it, sir!
Great poem, Mike. I hate when weathermen interrupt programs so they can play with all their toys zooming in and color coding the weather. Stick you head out the window!
