Twinsies with Arizona
It’s been said
the Colorado River etched the Grand Canyon
not so much by might
but perseverance
eroding and exposing hard earned beauty
in the colorful walls.
Well preserved rocks record the ages
layer by authentic layer
telling its unique story.
My wrinkles?
Chiseled in similar fashion
shaped by the river of life.

You had me at “Colorado River”!
I am from the Coloradan town where the Colorado and Rio Grande meet.
I appreciate how well you crafted this poem and how endearing you’ve made it.
Thanks!
Aww, thank YOU!
Fantastic last stanza. I enjoy being reminded of the force of time.

This is beautiful, just like you. The line eroding and exposing hard earned beauty has been stuck in my head all morning. Love it.
I guess that whole “beauty is pain” rings true. I’d like to think that our beauty is forever revealing itself. Check out the writing class at Scott Pub Lib this evening, 6-8pm!
Way to create two separate images into one comparison…
Thank you! Wrinkles give us bonafide badges of courage for truth.
Beautiful just like you!
You know how to make a friend smile.
