I want a god without pronouns
I want an Old Testament god
that watches over every Trans kid in America
She puts on her makeup. For the first time.
She goes out in her makeup. For the first time.
She’s not your entertainment. She is beautiful.
What is it that makes you so bitterly angry?
Is it that it takes no more than this-
No more than allowing,
to Create a Woman?
I want a god that calls you by your name.

I want to add some commentary along with this poem. This poems was written with love and with encouragement. I don’t believe you Can Create a woman. Just because you love feminine beauty does not give you ownership of Womanhood, does not make you the gatekeeper of Womanhood, does not even concern you, you have no rights to it.
A Woman is who she makes up her mind to be. It comes from within. I stand in solidarity with the Trans community and hope that this poem will be read with the love and support it was was written with. Thank you ~
i think there is ownership in beauty – why there’s no one single cultural definition for it. beauty is just a collection of sights and sounds romanticized over time. new standards are never immediate; to canonize a thing takes dedication, patience, passion. youre helping.
Thank you ! I guess I just meant it doesn’t belong to men. I didn’t want to say that !
This is beautiful. Thank you for sharing it.
Glad you enjoyed it.
Poets have been the ones to take a stand…
good line breaks at for the/ this did not read for me as being transphobic, did read as feminist, sounds to me as though you are seeking understanding from and beyond the arcane, a poet’s “duty”
Thank You
