We Float
Between: a place defined
by the existence of others,
less refined.
This morning
the lake mists in the hollow
flatland of not hill, not mountain
float between seer and seen.
The earth is smoother
than a pearl in virgin oil.
Surround: a place defined
by the existence of others
more refined.
This morning
the long song of the
whippoorwill echoes again
and again and again.

Hollow flatland, of not mountain, not mountain. (I think you could lose the “of”) Love that little trill of words.
Also love the earth as a pearl in virgin oil.
🙂 yup, better 🙂
A very calming read
Love those mists on the lake, that whippoorwill. We’re in China or Japan, or at Swan Lake, or maybe Owsley Fork.
I love the final image of this poem. Beautiful.
