Vega and Altair: The Weaver and the Cowherd
Two love-lit stars edge sky’s dome
their gazes amble, glances weaving
a love poem, forever pinned
to each heart, looming stanzas
and couplets into a new constellation—
ample as the night sky is wide—
that uplifts in shiny outline the humble
milking stool, the deftly shuttled skein.

Love this! carefully chosen words and the couplets carried it well!
An elegant fusion of myth and image, Nancy.
What a beautiful, tender poem, Nancy. The sounds and images you create are wonderful, plus the couplet form emphasizes the meaning.
FIrst, I love the painting you wrote about and are keeping as your picture. It reminds me of you.
Second, love the title and Third, what Jeremy said.
Especially love: “couplets into a new constellation—”
Tenderness and precision. Beautiful write.
Couplets are perfect for this sweet piece.
Yes, couplets marry the twining! Last two lines – shivers!!
How do you do it, Nancy?
