What Silence Says
Pessimists, wanting a new life,
dream only by night. Silence
builds a strong distaste in their mouths.
Change imagery requires dreaming by day
but pessimists diet on rowdy words
that don’t deliver. Bold words that
just sound strong. The wind, thwarted
by nothing, blows them away.
Those of us who can tolerate
silence secretly hold promising words
in our day dreams.

“But pessimists diet on rowdy words that don’t deliver.” So good! I love the message of this poem.
Couldn’t possibly find a better way to describe the last four years of political discourse in this country. Amen!
