Midnight in the Parking Lot
Booming thumping bass sounds seep
from those who come to party cheap
Parked in tinted-windowed tombs
breathing in their gas-pipe fumes
Anonymous visitors to the parking lot
where’s the life that you forgot—-
that you come to park so close to me
your mufflers confused with joie de vivre?

Fun rhyme—love “party cheap” fits so well! Making out was sure fun on high school—I lived near a wealthy area near Lake Michigan near Chicago—beautiful spots to party cheap!
Thank you for liking “party cheap”—I can only hope these guys will grow up to be poets!
This is clean.
I working on a piece full of couplets right now so I know how much work this was.
Good concept done well.
Rhythm and rhyme.
Many thanks for your comments….yes, there was tinkering involved finding words…and reading out loud again.
I read the meaning first and had to read a second time to catch the rhymes. Silly me but you had me engaged.
