She’s tasting the light ✨️
Oh, now, Coleman—you’re halfway to the sequel haiku…. Should we collaborate on a haiku sequence?
Yes !!! I think there is one going around town. I’ll try and find out more. I think it’s someone from kenwick starting a renga.
fun stuff !!!!
❤️
Wonderful! I think we should all stick our tongues out at the straightjacketing ideals of feminine beauty that our culture holds up. Rock that beard, yellow iris!
Exactly, Lisa!
a sassy lady
Indeed.
LOVED your poem today.
Great observation!
Thanks Mike!
ha! This is great! And I just painted irises yesterday. I’ll consider the tongue 🙂
Thanks Elizabeth!
Oh, I love irises – and this one’s a keeper!
Thanks Nancy!
so clever!
Thanks Linda!
This one rose to one of my top favs of yours.
Love her attitude: “sticking out her tongue—”
Thanks Pam!
Sticking out her tongue after having eaten a dandelion. Great images.
Thanks Joe—I was thinking of the iris that blooms every year near the birdbath in the garden. ❤️
Kevin you are so creative in this short form. It’s amazing how vivid an image – a presence really – you render with so few words. Placing a trope like the bearded lady into a short form like this enlarges the poem’s scope and effect considerably. As ever. Artfully done.
Thanks Jules! This haiku has an odd gestation. I shot a photograph of an iris years ago and titled it “Bearded Lady.” I guess it had been in my brain all this time, waiting for me to finish the poem.
A lovely poem for a lovely lady. Yes!
Thanks, H.A.!
The flower show and circus come to town! Lovely, Kevin.
Exactly, Sylvia! And thanks.
Oh love this rebellious flower
lol You have such an imagination, Kevin.
You really captured the iris.
Very playful, very nice.
