ancient patterns
shrouded morning lake
weighted net carves splashing arc
lonely man fishes
lazy stream feeds silver flash
faithless lover slips away
ripples sooth her broken heart
sleeping to dry tears
fog keeps them apart
lake and fish are all he knows
love feels far away
small boats drift past each other
hard days look for better times

The lines have the sound and sense of ancient Chinese poems. I love that you left out connector words. I hear the waves rippling in its rhythm.
Thanks, Gaby. The forms are Japanese in origin. Verse one is a senryu, two is a dodoitsu, and three a tanka.
