Bio for 2023
Pauletta Hansel is the editor of But There Was Fire in the Distance, our 2021 anthology. Her nine poetry collections include Heartbreak Tree, winner of the Poetry Society of Virginia's North American Book Award, and Palindrome, winner of the 2017 Weatherford Award for Appalachian poetry. She was 2022 Writer-in-Residence for The Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County and Cincinnati’s first Poet Laureate, 2016-2018. Her writing has been featured in some journals, too.
