The First Time I Saw Someone Get Shot
(for Jamie)
My world went silent, but I saw their mouths – frozen Os.
Yanked up by my armpits, I swung through the house,
a pendulum in Mama’s hands.
She slung me into the tub; the water swirled pink.
My aunt’s thigh, still a living thing, pulsated in my hair.

Wow! So vivid!
The image of the pendulum has so much momentum. Shew!
Well, Missy, you certainly brought the drama! Yes, nice touch with the pendulum. Wow!
Agree with Shaun. Penduloum shows incredible movement.
