Scalawag
A poet skips town,
absconding
with Scotch eggs
& buttered scones,
the scoundrel!
What a scandal—
he’ll get caught
as he ought
but bloody hell,
who can blame him?

And by the way, how about those Knicks? 😏
Heck of a team. No quit in them.
Coleman could barely watch, poor devil.
Lolol…..no lies told….
I can hear him skipping out from the “s” sounds, the rhyme catching him, and your affection/affinity for him in the closing

Btw, look up Scotch eggs. Not that hard to make, and they are delicious.
What a delight of a poem, Kevin. You are a master of creating punchy, funny, playful poems that are unforgettable. The sounds you create in: “Scotch eggs / & buttered scones,” and “the scoundrel! / What a scandal—” are priceless, as is the title. Such a fun word to say.
Thanks Karen!
Perhaps I should credit Merriam-Webster as the co-author of this poem 😏

Still laughing and looking up Scotch eggs.
Thanks Pam! Unless you’re a vegetarian or vegan, you need to try a Scotch egg. You will thank me.
I eat fish, beans, and veggies. However, I still treat myself to good fried chicken and will do so with this delicious creation.
Very playful verse, Kevin. Enjoyed reading.
Thanks John!
