an over abundance of everything
I asked why she was crying with the kitchen all in a mess
she blurted out I organize when I get stressed,
I’d seen worse coping habits I guess,
broken brackets from distress, lid to pot ratios in excess
I suppose we could talk but she’d rather suppress
I’ll likely learn more watching her repress in process,
each placement an emotional move of chess
failing still to remove the feeling she can’t express

I also organize when I’m stressed. When my partner wants to figure out why I’m upset he grabs a large piece of paper and has me organize my thoughts in little boxes or pictures. We’ve kept all of them and I’ve found that I’ve been able to work through most of those past problems that way.

Thanks Arwen! I appreciate that feedback
Love your use of the repetitive sound. A particular de-stressing sound in this one, to me at least. Thanks!
Thanks Allen!
I’m loving the bouncy meter
I really appreciate that, thanks!
lid to pot ratio in excess . . . such interior depth in an everyday scene.
Thank you Pam, the details can make all the difference
Title caught me first and then this:
broken brackets from distress, lid to pot ratios in excess
and this:
each placement an emotional move of chess
failing still to remove the feeling she can’t express
Thanks, I try to write in layers. Appreciate your comment!
