An Undocumented Farewell
Some moments are too sacred to interrupt
with a camera flash. Besides, I don’t
need grainy photos to remember
your chin resting on my head, your
words whispered into my ear,
your reluctance to let
me go. Our embrace
nestles in my
memory.
Here, we
stay.

This is really nice and true. “Here we stay” is a great ending!
Thank you! I wanted to make sure I wrote a hopeful, warm ending.
You’ve captured the moment in word-pixels!
Yes!😆
Cuts to the heart of it. Lovely.
Thank you so much, Maira!
I think the moment is beautifully eternalized in this poem!
Thank you! Among other qualities, poetry is immortal.
Love the way you just described this.
Why, thank you!
Words and shapes.
Words to document and forever hold the memories that will only remain that. Beautiful.
My heart feels this one in a raw way. And I always love a good excuse to use the word “nestle”
Thank you so much, I’m honored to hear my humble little poem touched you in this way! Nestle is one of the good ones!😄
Love the form of your poem, and how the last word is “stay.”
Thank you so much! My original intention was to make this a nonet, but I found my words outnumbered the syllable count. However, I was able to maintain the trickling form; I’m happy you enjoyed it! I was quite pleased with the last line! Thank you!
