Bio for 2023
Karen George, a native Kentuckian, has published three poetry collections from Dos Madres Press: Swim Your Way Back (2014), and A Map and One Year (2018), and Where Wind Tastes Like Pears (2021). She won Slippery Elm’s 2022 Poetry Contest, and her short story collection, How We Fracture, which won the Rosemary Daniell Fiction Prize, is forthcoming from Minerva Rising Press in Fall 2023. Her work appears in Adirondack Review, Valparaiso Poetry Review, Louisville Review, Indianapolis Review, and Poet Lore. Reason for signing up:
Because I’ve been writing a poem-a-day in June with other LEXPOMO poets since 2013. And I'm inspired by reading the work of other LEXPOMO poets. Having a daily deadline is a good thing for me. I work well under pressure.
