Call It A Day
like trying to make letters with a new kinda clay
saying Affirmations so mind and heart do not stray
and remembering to pray
Walking to bank for quarters rolled
to put in meter so ticket is not doled
reassuring a father his five year old
is learning uppercase A-B-C’s
Modeling poised and centered ~ not scattered and quick
storybooks, big crayons, clay letters ~ even a piano key trick
Quick walk to mechanics’ pick up BMW car
glad his garage is not very far
battery, tune-up, regulator complete
feels good being back in the driver’s seat
Radio fritzed spells C-O-D-E
Now time for a new R-A-D-I-O yippee!
All this but a blink
nothing but a wink
a simply sliced chi-chink

You have captured the waterfall we call a day—so many details, front, back and center thoughts, serious and whimsical things as well—thank you! I love the maps you make with poetry!
