Coral Honeysuckle, a North American Native, Arrives By Mail
A gallon sized container
nestled strong roots and fanning vines.
Planted, they’ll climb cedar
posts placed so. Perhaps
they’ll bloom before climbing the peak.
Then call humming birds.

Nice. Is that called trumpet vine too? Love the last line here.
Thanks. Coral honeysuckle is different from trumpet vine. Coral h. has smaller blooms that tend to hang downward.
Yes, I have similar honeysuckle and hope for the same result.
May it be so!
The repeated “p” sounds picture the climbing vine for me
Thanks for noticing this.
Lovely, Melva! Contains so much hope. So enjoying your poems again.
Nice to read you as well, Karen.
Nice. I admire the knowledge of the natural world on display here.
Thanks, Tom.
I love to think of the sound of them calling hummingbirds. Very nice!
Same here, Nancy.
Coral honeysuckle sounds like such a pretty plant. May it delight you and the hummingbirds!
That ending! Beautiful!
Thanks!
There’s such optimism when we plan to plant things!
