The trick is not to give up (which is what they want). Humor helps.

This poem packs a punch. It reminds me of the “On the Rainy River” chapter in Tim O’Brien’s “The Things They Carried. His contemplation of whether or not to cross into Canada to dodge the draft.
Thank God for Canada, a little bit of sanity sitting just across the lakes.
