happy hour
I met a woman
who has loved
and lost
who outnumbers me
in forehead trenches
and belly laughs
who tended to her filleted
heart to find it still
opens and closes
who woke up to a husband
who misplaced the beauty
of her body
who looks at rivers
forming on my face
and tells me
it will be
ok

Very nice, Kat – especially the “forehead trenches” and the “rivers forming on my face.”
The way you introduce every next detail is so interesting. “outnumbers me in forehead trenches” “filleted heart” it kept me guessing.
Not to mention the humanity in it. Shared brokenness encourages connection. Thank you so much for sharing this with us.
“Misplaced the beauty of her body”…excruciatingly honest and painful.
