Hereditary
The best part of having the family you choose,
It keeps your heart from imploding after the family
Of your bloodline has forsaken you
Has no real purpose for your existence.
Don’t get any of this wrong,
because I’m guilty as any breathing in this.
Being open to miss an interpretation,
always makes me scared,
I dream, sleeping life away,
Just know when you’re here
I’m out my head,
And that’s a place I strive to stay awake,
Sweet dreams I’m hearing said,
And still get nightmares instead.
Gonna miss our inconsistent mis-adventures,
With consistently misunderstood people we love,
The beings we went from babbling with,
To telling stories of how the simple words spoken,
Made wedges we chose to split our love,
I’m a bad man and by that I mean,
I ain’t exactly heaven sent!
Are you thinking with that heart,
Pretending it’s strength is
Holding the line between falling in love,
And your failing to the furthest extent,
This is the day Carpè Diam attempt to soothe,
Each and every nerve, conflict and taming a shrew,
Dad got gone left Momma better albeit alone,
Given his same blood we’ve left each other longing to be gone.

Great poem
on the heartache
of family
the one we’re given,
the one we chose.
This is a great poem.
Title to perfect last line.
Well penned poet.
