I capture a moment
I capture a moment
Reading poetry tonight,
I am reminded of the shortest,
complete poem,
rising up fom silence,
temporarily lost:
I?
Why?
Think about that.
Feel those two words.
To answer those questions
can be personal,
philosophical,
religious,
but to have written them.
was the definition of a poet,
poetry,
humanity
for all time.

Great questions — the root. Nice one, Rudy, I enjoyed it.
Thank you so much, Bill…
This helped me understand something more–thank you!
Great questions and love how and when they appear in the poem.
And re Cowboy: Cowboy is alive….he WAS to be hanged but he here is on the train. Might get that ride with him after all!
Glad Cowboy escaped the noose. Thanks for commenting…
Shaun, I won’t ask, for the poet in the two of us knows what you meant…
Rudy, this wrestled up a deep memory . . . when i never asked i? why?
instead i walked the fire to learn the depths of my healing soul . . . thank you for this opportunity to heal even more deeply
