Last Chapter
kept in a wheelchair safe from falling
ground-up food, less chance of choking
You are too educated they say, switch
your station from NPR to Christian radio
I show up with biscotti and some poetry to read
they shake their heads, no idea who you are

Skillfully drawn portrait! Thanks for bringing your gifts and for the lovely poem.
Us versus they- great job of presenting events as concrete details for us to savor.
Just enough details in this to show what’s going on. I agree with what a Sylvia said.
Very well done in spare verse.
Very economical, very sad poem.
Agree with all that commented before me. Glad you are there with: “I show up with biscotti and some poetry to read”
Sad and so often true: “they shake their heads, no idea who you are”
Yes, again.
Heartbreaking how our worlds get smaller. Whisps.
Very much hear your voice.
love the way you did the punctuation.
I love the ending. Sadly, I have no idea either. But I want to know.
Whew. Thanks for this. Talk about economical verse.
For how many of us know exactly the experience you describe, it seems like there would be a community for us. Every time I’ve built one, no one has chosen to enter that headspace with me. So we each of us remain alone.
Tough stuff.
I’m sorry that happened to you. Thank you.
