A noble quest,

the search for knowledge is
To unveil the unknown
and discover what has gone unnoticed

A simple equation
A lab coat and some
DNA sequencing
Soon the world would be fed by my design

Little did I know

In the tall grasses
The sun beats down
breeze carries its breath
I’m a roast in an overgrown convection oven

I swim through a sea of rye
Buried in lodged plots
Rummaging for labels
Without which my toiling would be in vain

The towering panicles
Scratch at my neck
Whip at my face
Giggling in the wind as I wrestle their stems

Grass rash flares
sweat pools in my boots
at last the label is in sight
Variety 1103, range 5, row 6

On to the next

A noble quest,
the search for knowledge is
Little did I know
The equation is not so simple
