Restitution II
It’d be simpler if I weren’t so complicit.
If I didn’t dream about you. If I didn’t sit
in the front seat of this Accord with my hands
wrapped around your forearm and my body
perspiring guilt. I reek of it. I reek of you.
You hold my face in a gripped right hand,
my body captive with just the
weight of your warm palm.

First line drew me in…..
I agree that the first line is wonderful, and I love that subtle rhyme of “complicit/sit” that continues to draw in the reader before moving onto describing the moment of guilt.
