Retirement
the night before my last semester
I dreamt the school buildings
were gutted
said my spouse “You must be looking
forward to your last semester”

Gaby, this is an interesting take on retirement. Especially, that you dreamt the school building were gutted. I think there could be several messages here in your verse.
Intriguing! I’m guessing this is comic but maybe not. Or maybe both.
Another excellent pairing of poetry and image. I love the enclosed, tunnel-like feeling the photo provides. I agree with the others; I read this with humor and sadness.
School dreams can be truly stressful! Mine was my new classroom was completely empty of all my stuff the day of open house. Chilling!
Great visual and poem on the limenal space between work and retirement and the feelings of sadness.
Schools become iconic in dreams…an endless source of hard work by our subsconscious! You’ve captured one poignant story here!
Oh, what teacher does not have school dreams. Yes, the “gutted” is such a loaded word. Try retirement dreams next – much more pleasant!
You create a visceral, immersive experience with this powerful pairing of photo and poem. The contrasting views expressed between the two verses brings to mind Jungian function of dream as psychological balancing. Memorable work, Gaby
You’re on the cusp which can be scary to start a new phase!
I have been retired almost 10 years and I still have vivid school dreams….
The Dream brain must think they can’t go on without you! I love your photo pairing! I love the narrative of your poem!
