Great list, great shape, great anchor at the end!
Fantastic poem.
thank you! i wanted it to be a little more than just a list
Nice! Glad you include Emily Wilson, who is a genius.
thanks—she’s great isn’t she?
So much fun!
thanks—it was fun to write, which is to say that it came together quickly
You had me at “fountain pens and feral cats”
What a great self portrait
thanks, shaun—those two things have been floating around in my head for a couple weeks, but this morning they finally collided
you could be speaking about many of us
ha—hadn’t thought of that (and i’d never assume to)—thanks for the comment
Grabbed me here “i’m fountain pens and feral cats” and didn’t let go.
describes transitions well that I’ve been a part of; “i’m learning to surf on dry land/and looking for a beach”
thanks for reading, pam—this is what comes out when i’m awake at 4am lol
lol, keep waking up then!
This is a fun one. Here’s to finding a beach!
Love list poems! I just read Emily Wilson’s translation of The Iliad (and took her seminar with the Academy of American Poets). So rich! I plan to read The Odyssey soon. Rumor has it, she’ll do a round of webinars on that translation next.
