right now
an uncle and his niece dangle their feet
off a dock and watch fish jump in the creek
the sun’s a dull nectarine above the horizon
they take turns dropping food for fish
that never appear under the rising dock
wading birds stab at life in the water
two people paddle past in kayaks, silent

Fantastic!! Love it!!
thanks!
Mmmm, the specialest thing I’ve read lately. That nectarine sun. I was immediately on the dock near me, from the first word. What a gift or a beautiful wish to be an uncle or a niece in that moment together. Thanks for the lovely journey.
