Sweater Holes
Sweater holes caused by
cat claws and gypsy moths
and aging wool too slow and tired
to escape that protruding nail
bent in half and mostly
buried in the wood
at the back of my closet
except for the pointy end
that reaches out
for threads to play with
as though trying
to make new friends
and going about it
the wrong way.

what a fresh and fun thing to personify
I owe you an apology, because I keep reading your work, enjoying every morsel, having not really any words to describe how much I enjoy it, and so not commenting.
This was lovely on all the levels. Thank you so much for sharing it.
Oh and if you haven’t listened to Keaton’s autobio on audio, do. A great journey. It painted my whole kitchen once.
Lovely and original! Sweater threads need friends too!
