The Magical Heavens
Gazing into the enchanting night sky
I’ll sometimes see Venus and Mars
along with thousands of shining stars
and ponder when and where and why.

reminds me of the end of a Keats poem:
Then felt I like some watcher of the skies
When a new planet swims into his ken;
I especially like the interrogatives in the last line

Thank you, Coleman. I appreciate your thoughts on my poem, and I’m thrilled with the association with a Keat’s.
The mystery of the night sky at its best.
Thank you, Virginia. Well said.
I learned the constellations
many years ago, as a result
I leave my phone & its night
sky app in the house, when
I go out to watch the stars.
Your poem catches the feeling
of that precisely.
Thank you, Jim.
Some of the best moments of life are pondering those questions! Lovely poem.

This one is very beautiful, and also striking that you single out the fact that some of the “stars” are actually planets.
