The Pool
I walked the pool,
from end to end,
contemplating the sun on my shoulders,
and the slow drag of the water.
My son was playing a few feet away,
laughing with friends,
and I was watching
I wasn’t used to being alone,
to hearing my own thoughts,
and I didn’t know
I love the ambivalence you capture so well with the comparison in the last two stanzas
Beautiful moment in time.
