THE SPELL
THE SPELL
In the woods by the river
there were periods of silence,
utter silence
inviting thoughts to come and grow,
feelings to swell,
and from which
–until a bird’s song broke
the spell–
a poem could be wrung.

ive read every poem here so far at this easily makes my top 10… the ‘utter silence’ line feels off, tho… maybe replace one of the silences with the word quiet? but a fantastic piece.
I especially love the archetypal first line and literary last line.
Thank for your generous comments, Gaby.
