Three minutes
all they gave
to honor
my son
shot down
by mass shooter
do I praise the joy
he gave
Or denounce
the killer
with hate
I chose
not to stoop
down
but professed
my love
and loss
of my
boy’s
shining
Light.

Very good! Love the work the title does and love the speaker’s choice.
I really like the way the short lines create such an effective rhythm to the poem. Poignant message as well. Thanks for sharing.
Also like the short lines – my eye kept being drawn to “down”. Powerful piece.
This is so sad, but so well done.
Agree with others about the effectiveness of short lines and form of the poem. Poignant and powerful.
