Bio for 2019
JK Elias currently lives in the Greater Cincinnati area, but grew up in Central Kentucky. They began writing poems on a semi-regular basis during a brief (but impactful) time when they attended Poezia, a Lexington based writing group.
Reason for signing up:
Honestly, I have a need for external validation. It's very sad, and I should probably see a therapist. I have no idea why I continue to occasionally write. I don't particularly enjoy it, do not use it as catharsis or a means of expression, and do not consider myself a "creative" person.
I've tried to participate actively in LexPoMo in the past, with disastrous results. This year, I decided to use a pen name for personal reasons, which has had the unexpected effect of being very liberating. I feel less pressure regarding what I post and more freedom to explore things outside my usual arbitrary, self-imposed aesthetic principles.
