Illumination
if I could master my own illumination:
let strangers peek through Snell’s Window—
they peer from just below the surface
through a liquid light
encircling me in fluid frame
encircling me in fluid frame
let my love see me through his hands,
each caress a gentle kaleidoscoped turn of seasons:
autumnal amber hues pulsing between branches’ bustling leaves,
winter’s pastel palette settling itself among ammil,
springtime sun stretching through abiding apricity and reaching for
summer sunset bathing my bended body in engilded glow
let me see myself—
myself
suspended in stellar sequence,
somewhere between bioluminescence
somewhere between bioluminescence
& the Fata Morgana

I could read your descriptions of the seasons all day. A beautiful read from start to finish!
Thank you, Kayla. I am glad you enjoyed those!
As I read this….Natalie’s song ” Land of Nod” came on…..this poem is a symphony…..
A symphony.
Many thanks, Coleman. 😊
Oh, this is stunning! The first line is such a wonderful concept! (I had to look up Snell’s Window. but I am so happy to learn something new.) You have outdone yourself – yourself – with this poem. What a way to start this morning of light.
How kind of you, Sylvia! Thank you for reading. I am so glad you like this one. 💜
luminous poem. I had to look up three terms! love learning a new word: apricity
Thank you, Gaby. 💜 May apricity be a fun addition to your lexicon.
I felt lulled by all the “l” sounds at the beginning of this poem and then I couldn’t stop myself falling into its magic. Wow!
Thank you, Nancy! I am honored that you see the magic in this one.
Rich in alliteration and fluid rhythm, a sheer delight when read aloud. Musically lyrical, H.A.
Thank you, L.! I appreciate your generous feedback and kind read. 💜
So much lovely alliteration tied to vivid descriptors makes for a full sensory flash: “autumnal amber,” “winter’s pastel palette” all “suspended in stellar sequence” for us!
Thank you, Shaun! Glad you enjoyed this. May the colors bring you and all readers joy.
H.A, you caused me to do a read and re-read again this week. You are clever!
Thank you, John! You are so kind. I appreciate that you took the time to read and reread. Thank you for your kindness.
What a stunning poem, H.A. Love the lushness of sound and image.
Thank you, Karen! Your response means a lot. Thank you for reading. I am glad you like this one. 💜
Echo the comments before me.
Especially love: “let my love see me through his hands,
each caress a gentle kaleidoscoped turn of seasons:” and
“let me see myself—
myself”
Love the way you wrote the above…mirroring the word myself
Thank you, Pam! I appreciate your kind and thoughtful read! 💜
This one is my favorite from you. I too have the desire to be known without distortion. The Snell’s Window is brilliant. I was thinking about being in the water and looking up at the sun recently. I didn’t know there was an expression or term for it. Gorgeous write H.A.
Thanks, Jeremy! Yes, Snell’s Window is such a beautiful concept. Thanks for reading. I always appreciate your kind comments. Glad you connected with this one.
