I’ve been watched, while a kid,
By my parents who worried
I’d eat thumbtacks
Or fall off a cliff.
I’ve been watched, carefully,
By a cop once or twice
As I left from a bar
Walking stiff.
But I’ve never been watched
With such skeptical eyes
Tying shoes in my
Own habitat
As I’ve been in the months since
We opened our home
To a quite large, but slim-
Focused cat.
